Lets get something straight, footy is art and art is footy. As I may be taking creative licence with that statement, Community Cup brings the arts and sport together, showcasing the eclectic mix of community broadcasters and Melbourne’s rock fraternity.  Sure the skill level is not amaze and its totes funny watching unfit alternative types running but the whole point is for charity and that is something to get puffed out for.

Reclink Australia, uses sport and the arts to enhance the lives of people experiencing disadvantage and targets some of the community’s most vulnerable and isolated people - those experiencing mental illness, disability, homelessness, substance abuse, addiction and social and economic hardship.

This years line-up gives us a rare performance from 80’s rockers The Painters and Dockers, local talent Fraser A. Gorman, Sasquatch, The Smith Street Band, Elmo and Friends being cute for the kids and David Bridie delivering the anthem with a twist.

Gates open at 12pm, with limited parking so PT will be your friend for the day. (Northsiders, don’t take the bus if you’re hung-over, I learned the hard way last year).  $10 entry/$5 for kids, no glass, no BYO booze but defo BYO FOOTY for kick to kick, also known as, ‘Where the fuck is my ball?’ and ‘Ouch, that just hit me in the head.’
