Rain, hail or shine the show must go on! Nothing was going to deter the people from hitting up Dagmar Roussett + Douglas and Bec launch Party. I was certainly keen to check it out. I walked in and immediately noticed the wine flowing, people chatting and cheese plates being passed around. I suddenly forgot about my wet shoes and cold feet. I was ready to get amongst the crowded room.
Douglas and Bec had a showcase of pieces throughout the room; the space felt warm and welcoming,. The hand made light pieces hanging from the ceilings and wooden turned lamps on the tables, with hand made and painted ceramic pieces on the tables gave the room homely warmth. The splashes of colour in the bags and jackets filled the room with colour. In fact I felt so at home that I asked Douglas if he mind me sitting my glass on the table while I took a photo of him holding his cheese plate (say cheese!) He was more than obliging “ Yeah go for it”.
While I snapped a photo of Douglas he fires a question at me that caught me off guard “So how do you think Melbourne will take to our stuff?” Trying not to sound like a total wanker I replied with “ Yeah, wonderfully “.
I quickly changed the subject and asked him what his thoughts were on tonight’s event and he didn’t let much out but the excitement was written all over his face. “We’re happy to open a store in Melbourne, Bec has worked really hard to get all the pieces shipped to Melbourne in time for the event”.
Since I don’t eat cheese – I couldn’t find a good enough reason to hold Douglas hostage with questions. I could see he was eager to share his excitement and cheese plate with others in the room, so I set him free.
I made my way through the crowd and I walked out the back into the Dagmar space which was filled with goodies. A long rack of clothes hanging on the left hand wall, the middle of the room was filled with cushions and a small display of clothes and socks and pieces of jewellery were placed around the room. I noticed the room started to fill quite quickly and suddenly the room became crowded.
Dagmar Roussett + Douglas and Becs pieces really complimented each other, you sensed a natural and relaxed style about all the pieces.
If you in the Collingwood area you should go and check it out!
