Who: Too many designers to list! Over 120 furniture and light installations in 3 separate spaces. Awards sponsored by Banyule City Council, Tait, Craft, Australian Furniture Association, Handsome and Co. and Melbourne Fringe.
Why: "How does the design of an object influence the way we see and experience the world it inhabits?" was the question given to designers to ponder about for this years Fringe Furniture. The open brief resulted in very wide range of pieces utilising all sorts of mediums including wood, ceramic, textile and glass. There is A LOT on display in several areas around the convent, furniture pieces, light installations and things in between that blur the line between design and art. Currently in it's 29th year Fringe Furniture is the longest running event in Fringe Festival's program, and after seeing the amount of attention it draws from the design community is easy to see why!
