Off The Kerb's 9th Birthday show - 'The Wild'
Ever heard of Edgar's Mission? It's a not for profit farm in Lancefield that provides a life time of care for over 350 rescued animals, and it does a damn good job of it too. Well, Edgar's Mission is going to be the recipient of funds raised at the 9th birthday party of our pals over at Off The Kerb in Collingwood, one of our favourite art galleries in Melbourne and All Round Good Folk TM. That's right, the commission for sold artworks that would normally go to the gallery will instead be donated to Edgar's Mission, ensuring that their good deeds can continue for a long time.
I hear you scream, somewhat aggressively it must be said, "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ART?" Thankfully there's a lot of it showing at The Wild, an exhibition described by OTK as "a utopian wilderness where there are no boundaries, freedom and beauty is bountiful, a place where love runs wild, wilder beasts and divine creatures roam free". Can't argue with that!
There's a veritable bonanza of Melbourne's finest artists showing work in The Wild, including Creature Creature, Barek, Bambi Johnson, Ha Ha, Jason Parker, Mtich, Shini Pararajasingham, Nick Millen, Tina Mose, Thirty60, and would you bloody believe it, our very own J Forsyth!
You really can't argue with the maths. Big party + great artists + ace work + good cause = perfect night out.
Opening night is Friday 8 April between 6pm - 9pm, and the exhibition itself runs until 21 April. We'll see you there!
