Friday 29 April

Brunswick Street Gallery: Opening night of seven new solo shows and a group show, 29th April 6pm-9pm. Exhibitions continue 29th April - 12th May. [Brunswick].

The NGV: Melbourne Art Book Fair Preview Night- enjoy a first look at new limited-edition art publications, with music, art, a pop-up Asahi bar and more. $20-$25. 6-10pm. [CBD].

Strange Neighbour: TOPIAS I, a solo exhibition by Georgie Mattingley. Opening night 29 April 6-9pm. Exhibition runs from April 29th – May 21st. [Fitzroy].

Little Woods Gallery: Weird at Sea - a new body of work by Anthony Scabies. Opening on Friday the 29th of April 2016, 6 - 8 pm. Exhibition continues until 21 May 2016. [Collingwood].

Saturday April 30

No Vacancy Gallery / Project Space - Varial, a skate deck show featuring a selection of highly talented emerging artists, including past MAC exhibitors Machinegun Dev, Dosey, Jason Parker, & Pigeon boy. Launch night Saturday 30 April 6–9pm, exhibition dates 26 April – 8 May. [CBD]

The NGV International: The Melbourne Art Book Fair. Featuring some of the world’s most creative emerging and established publishers, artists and writers, the 2016 Melbourne Art Book Fair presents a dynamic program of free talks, book launches and performances over three days from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May. Spanish Film Festival: It's closing night of the 2016 Spanish Film Festivals, and the closing night event is afternoon screenings of the Oscar nominated film 'Embrace Of The Serpent'. The film will be screening as part of SPF at the Astor, the Palace Cinema Como, Kino Cinemas, and Palace Westgarth on Sunday afternoon. [St Kilda, South Yarra, CBD, Westgarth]

Sunday Sister Market: Pop-up SisterWorks Market showcasing the work and designs of female entrepreneurs raising money for the amazing SisterWorks Inc. There'll be music by The Harpoons, GL and Pillow Pro. Allpress Studio. [Collingwood].

Cherchez La Femme present 'Feminism and the Academy': Panelists Shakira Hussein, Carolyn D'Cruz and LJ Maher are the line up for this edition of CLF held at the Melba Spiegeltent to discuss the topic of academia and feminism. [Collingwood]

Creative Field Trip - Abbotsford Convent: Take a tour of Abbotsford Convent and discover the history of the property, from its early days as a meeting point for the Kulin Nation, to the Good Shepherd Sisters using it as a base, to the arts hub it is today. [Abbotsford]

Wednesday May 4

7UP Launch: celebrate the launch of the 7UP gallery space with exhibitions by Clare Peake, David Attwood, Madeleine Thornton-Smith, Will Heathcote, and Kristen Coleman. [Fitzroy]

MicroLandscapes: Perth-based dance and media artist Emma Fishwick transforms the main hall within the Northcote Town Hall with microLandscapes, an immersive 360-degree exploration of distance and perception, and their effects on landscape. Part of the 2016 Next Wave festival. [Northcote]

Borders, Barriers, Walls (Opening event): a group exhibition featuring artists from Australia and overseas. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue featuring commissioned essays including one from Professor Gillian Triffs, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission.
