Melbourne Museum: Jurassic Nights, every Friday in June 6pm - 9pm. See the exhibition at night with special guest DJ Jess McGuire; Melbourne based DJ, writer & broadcaster [Carlton]
William Grant & Sons annual competition Artists in Residence: Artists using any medium can enter their work to win a residency prize valued at $21,000. Entries officially close on 16 August, with finalists announced 16 September. A winner will then be announced on 18 November. See their website for more details.
Centre for Contemporary Photography: Thursday 9 June. Short presentations and a panel discussion by Dr Spencer Jackson, Dr Joseph Browning, Dr Fran Edmonds, Associate Professor Anne Maxwell, Dr Angus Frith will explore social contract theory through the lens of photography, philosophy, law and music. Arts House: Mira Fuchs - Melanie Jame Wolf/Savage Amusement. In an intimate, in-the-round work, Wolf speaks, prances and twists her way through an abstracted memoir that trips between lap-dance and body politics. Running until the 12 June. Dark Mofo: Internationally acclaimed curator Juliana Engberg is bringing a tempest to TMAG. Inspired by Shakespeare’s late, great romance, Tempest will transform the museum’s galleries into a world of shipwrecks and stormy seas, love, tragedy and magic. Grand opening 5pm-10pm. Free. [Hobart]
