Blindside Festival: Presents On The Verge an experimental art festival of chance encounters, immersive soundscapes and intimate creative exchanges. For 11 days art will materialise in the alleyways and byways of Melbourne’s CBD. 24 August - 3 September 2016. View the full program here.

Arts Project Australia: Collins Place Pop-Up Gallery continues until Wednesday 31 August at 6pm. Over 400 artworks are currently on exhibition and housed in the Collins Place stockroom. [CBD]

Thursday 25:

Tinning Street: Opening night for Soma by Emma Michaelis, 6pm. Soma is a body of large-scale coloured pencil on paper drawings which seek to uncover the human relationship to parameters of physicality and the conscious/unconscious link between self and body. [Brunswick]

Blindside Festival 2016: On The Verge Festival Launch Party, 6-8pm, Blindside Gallery. [CBD]

No Vacancy Gallery: Opening night for Weather Girls, a collaborative exhibition exploring the feisty and ever-changing nature of Melbourne’s temperamental and often surprising weather. 6-8pm [Fed Square]

Counihan Gallery + Arts Project Australia: Opening night for Landmarks, an exhibition presenting the works of six artists that together reveal the ways in which we simultaneously navigate and inscribe our urban habitat. 6-8pm [Brunswick]

The Fox Darkroom and Gallery: Exhibition opening and gallery launch with The Land Where The Crow Flies Backwards by Matthew AbbottThe Land Where The Crow Flies Backwards follows the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia’s longest river system. 6-9pm [Kensington]

Backwoods Gallery: Presents Brainfade by French, a bold new series of illustrated fluroscent works and woven wallhangings. Opens at 6pm. Exhibition continues 26 August - 4 September 2016. [Collingwood]

Outré Gallery: Opening night for Moon Fire with Bryn Perrott (Deerjerk), Annita Maslov, Sin-Eater, and Courtney Brooke. And Keepsakes by Sam Yong as part of the Small Wall Project. 6pm [CBD]

Saturday 27:

The Creators Market: The Creators Market is a boutique market supporting local and small business creators. Open 10:30-4pm, free entry, Prahran Town Hall. [Prahran]

The Fox Darkroom and Gallery: Artist talk from photographer Matthew Abbott and printer Sandra Barnard, as part of new exhibition The Land Where The Crow Flies Backwards. Discover the stories and process behind the series. 2pm [Kensington]

NGV Curators Perspective: Explore key works on display in Artist’s Hand and hear about the importance of benefaction to the NGV Collection of Indigenous art with exhibition curator Judith Ryan. Free, 11am. [CBD]
