Wreck Yo'Self

Words and photos - J Forsyth

Its sunny, I'm wearing shorts, other things.  This is Wreck Yo'Self.  Melbourne Arts Club's occasionally comprehensive, sometimes helpful list of Arty stuff happening over the weekend and on other days too, (sometimes).

This weekend sees the end of Photobook Melbourne which was so super successful, I can not wait for next year.  Transitions Film Festival continues and for those who don't want to leave the house, watch The Katering Show on one of your seven Mac products.

Transitions Film Festival is still on the go, NOVA cinema is playing host, go and be better.

The Katering Show has launched on Youtube, its funny, its short and it takes the piss out of us, yes, you and me and other foody city types.

PhotoBook Melbourne Finishes up this weekend.  If you didn't make it to the openings last week, spend your Saturday walking around Fitzroy and Collingwood and immerse yourself in the Photobook world. Don't miss Paris Photo - Aperture Foundation Photobook Awards at the Baron Said, 83 Kerr Street, Fitzroy or LA - NY a joint exhibition by Jack Shelton and Sam Wong at No Vacancy Gallery.

We Wear Future - an exhibition presented by the VAMFF Cultural Program is at Brunswick Street Gallery from 6pm until late with music provided by Amber Mic Productions. $5 drinks, some free stuff and a shit hot party vibe.  More about this HERE!

House of Bricks hosts ReaLies by Jimmy Lee from 6pm - 9pm

The job Seekers Guide comic launch at Kent Street is my pick for Saturday night.  Sure White Night is on but who can be fucked with that malarkey!  The Job Seekers Guide is a short comic about Centrelink. I implore you to go, have a drink and support the very talented Aurora Campbell (illustrations) and Will Stanforth (words). If you're at White Night this Saturday, say "Fuck this, I'm going to Kent Street!"

So, ok, White Night is on.  7pm - 7am the city goes nuts.  I hate crowds so good luck to you all.  Stay tuned for Sofles Graffiti Mapped presented by Juddy Roller, this will be killer, location TBA.

If you do venture out for White Night, try and avoid the city centre at peak times. Chill out in Alexander Gardens at the Indie stage curated by Ali Bird, or wait until 4am, take a banger and ride around the outdoor events looking at the projections.

Here are Julia's Do's and Don't from last year, I'm thinkin' they are still valid. DO/DON'T

Strange Neighbour and Nonlinear presents the second of a bi-monthly series LIVE from 4pm - 7pm $7 entry
