Footscray Community Arts Centre is hosting Melbourne's second Festival of Live Art. It's for the risk takers and the adventurous. Look for EXQUISITE and you are not a boy this weekend. Live Art can be scary, but when it pays off it pays off like nothing else.
Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival kicks off on Monday and goes to next Sunday. NGV Australia will be opening 200 Years of Australian Fashion on Saturday and Electronica on Thursday night are my highlights.
Thursday 3 March
Fort Delta is opening three new shows; Gervaise Netherway | Infinite Gesture, Ieuan Weinman | Field Recording: Cutting and Douglas McManus | High Priestess of the Third Night. In my book, Fort Delta is the premier commercial gallery of Melbourne and it's the one I'm starting to trust. 6pm - 8pm [CBD]
Fabrik: conceptual, minimalist and performative approaches to textiles is conceived by Sarah crowEST and curated by Jane O'Neill. 23 artists coming together, at the University of Melbourne’s Ian Potter Museum of Art and Margaret Lawrence Gallery at the VCA. 6pm [CBD]
NY COLLECT is a solo exhibition by painter Emily Ferretti and shows the outcome of her recent Greene Street studio residency in New York City. 6pm, at Schoolhouse Studios. [Collingwood]
The Big Issue Portraits - The Drawings | Virginia Hodgkinson. To celebrate 20 years of the Big Issue, Hodgkinson took to the street to draw the vendors. 6pm, No Vacany [CBD]
Exhibition Opening at Bourke St: John Spiteri, Vagabond. 6pm, at Neon Park [CBD]
Dethrae Future Makers Exhibition launch by Signal. Signal's youth space is one of the most exciting Artistic Communities in Melbourne, with artist/designer Rachel Jessie-Rae O’Connor leading this bunch of young kids were sure to have something special on our hands. Friday 4 March
Phollio's 'Obsidian' Art Exhibition. The third annual exhibition will feat: Jamii Brown, Jessica Bee, Chryso Petrou, Linda Marikar, Paul Jones, Jemma Cakebread, Katherine Reynolds, Luftmensche, Michelle Kneipp and more. 6pm onwards, Melbourne Arts Club Gallery [Preston]
New exhibitions at BSG. As always at Brunswick Street, there'll be a lot of different rooms opening up, well worth a look. Solo artists include Shelley Hall, Kaitlyn Crist and Vanessa Mia Lahat and look for Petra Nicel's sophisticated and nuanced work in the group show. 6 - 9pm [Fitzroy]

Daisylegs presents Threeways. A work by Megan Edgoose, Aaron Claringbold and Rebecca McCauley, focusing on the Australian interior and their differing perspectives of it. 6 - 9pm, Daisylegs [Richmond]
Just As We Are, an exhibition by Suki & Be Free. After a month in an empty space, come and see how these two artist's have transformed it. 6 - 9 pm, Roll Over Beethoven [Collingwood]
Saturday 5 March
Gertrude Glasshouse: In Concert will chart the boundaries of this collaborative work space, it is the combination of studio artists, key art organizations and a few local primary school. Place and art are linked and Gertrude Contemporary are doing a great job of exploring how. 3 - 5pm, Gertrude Contemporary [Fitzroy]
Fresh! at Craft will exhibit some of Melbourne's finest recent graduate makers. 4pm at Craft, tickets free but RSVP [CBD]
Melbourne BioBlitz Basecamp. It doesn't feature paintbrushes but watching scientists explore a gumtree and all the species over it for 24 hours is 100% art. 10am - 5pm for the public, featuring a range of other activities like Birds 101 at 4pm, Melbourne Museum [Carlton]
The Big Reveal of EXQUISITE at Footscray Community Arts Centre. Part of the Festival of Live Art, and probably the show of the Festival. 1 - 5pm, FCAC. [Footscray]
Nu Yishu Series: VII Thread | Artists Talk. Part of the Hong Kong/Melbourne Exchange. 2pm, Bundoora Homestead Arts Centre. [Bundoora]
Sunday 6 March
Adnate will be painting on the front of Blak Dot Gallery's Saxon St space. If you're at Sydney Rd Festival, this is something to check out as Adnate is easily one of the most recognizable, beautiful and talented of Melbourne's Street Artist. There'll be music all afternoon as well. 10am - 4pm, Blak Dot Gallery [Brunswick]
Art and words and you, etc is asking you to participate in some concrete poetry creation. 12 - 6pm, Royal Botanical Gardens [CBD]

Future Days 2 is on at Old Bar. It's music that so obsessed with the music of the future, that it captures right now. Feat: Concentration, Perfect Skin, Purr and Apocalypse Season. $7 entry, doors at 7:30, comes highly recommended. [Fitzroy]
