204 Art Space are looking for recent Visual/Fine Art graduates to submit exhibition proposals for their upcoming curated exhibition 'Young Melbourne Contemporary'. Click here for more details, submission deadline is April 14!

The Counihan Gallery - 'Is This Thing On?'. In conjunction with The Melbourne Comedy Festival, 'Is This Thing On' is a multi-disciplinary group exhibition celebrating humour, wit and weirdness. On until April 24. [Brunswick]

ACMI - Melbourne Queer Film Festival.  MQFF opens this Thursday, and while there may be no tickets left for opening night, there will be plenty on all week. The festival runs until April 11. [CBD]

Half Price Movies at The Shadow Electric Outdoor Cinema - Nothing says summer's over like the end of Shadow Electric's outdoor movie season. Make sure you squeeze the last remnants out of the season by checking out a half price movie this week and next (you may need a jumper). It's also the last time you'll be able to watch a movie in the old courtyard before the cinema moves to a new location in the grounds of the convent. 3 Hertford St - Opening Drinks for 'Sand Castles', an exhibition by Emma McEvoy. Set in an old run down house in the heart of Fitzroy, this one is sure to be interesting. The exhibition will feature photography from Emma's visit to the abandoned town of Kolmanskop in the Namibian desert, as well as a sand installation that will bemuse all the senses. Exhibiting until April 3. Strange Neighbour - Opening night of  'EFFACE' an exhibition of paintings by Chelsea Lehmann and Luke Thurgate. Both artists use their work as a means of engaging with the body and its relationship to history, identity, sexuality and authorship. 6-9pm. [Fitzroy]

Alternating Current Art Space - Grand Opening Exhibition 'Chalk and Cheese'. 'Chalk and Cheese' is a group show featuring over 27 artists from a range of disciplines who have contributed to the identity of Alternating Current Art Space as a site for contemporary art. April Fools at the Counihan - The Counihan Gallery in Brunswick is hosting a series of free events in conjunction with The Melbourne Comedy Festival and their exhibition 'Is This Thing On?'. Meeting of Styles, an internationally renowned graffiti and arts festival is finally coming to Melbourne running from 1 - 3 April, this will be huge! All of the CBD's iconic laneways will be completely repainted during this three day period - something never done before in the City of Melbourne.
